Welcome to Crochet on the Spectrum, I’m Gabby!

How the Business Got Started

After a couple years of dabbling with the idea of selling my knitted or crocheted items, I finally made the decision in January of 2024 to open Crochet on the Spectrum, and sell my goods as my full time career! The name holds a special meaning for me as it signifies not only the variety of colors and sizes in my products but also the fact that I navigate the world as someone on the autistic spectrum. It comes with its challenges and advantages, but I've found that my systematic thinking and love for creating collections makes my crochet pieces truly unique.

I want my products to be both stylish and sustainable, so as soon as I discover a line of yarn that aligns with my sustainability efforts and earth tone color palette, I start envisioning how I can turn it into something special for the whole family. This led to the creation of my first collection – the Antimicrobial Chunky Beanies. They come in twelve soft earth tones and seven different sizes, ensuring there's a cozy beanie for every family member.

While I plan on mostly connecting with customers at local farmers markets and craft fairs, I wanted to extend my reach beyond my community. So, I decided to open an online shop, allowing friends and family from different corners of the country to support and spread the word about my business. This also gives me the opportunity to offer a broader range of colors and sizes for various products that might not be feasible to bring to in-person events. I’ll be posting updates on my social media pages for when I list more products on the website and when I will be making in-person appearances. Be sure to follow me on Instagram and Facebook if you would like to see my products at a local craft fair, check out exciting new products are coming to the website, or catch any upcoming online sales!

My Crochet Journey

My journey into the world of yarn began with my grandma teaching me to knit as a little girl in elementary school. I quickly became obsessed with knitting little preemie baby hats for the local hospitals. Later, I ventured into crochet as a pre-teen, self taught through YouTube. The vast array of tutorials available today is super helpful for anyone looking to explore a new hobby. Crocheting isn't just a creative outlet for me; it's a way to connect with people and keep my hands and mind busy. As I’m sure my boyfriend or family members can tell you, I am always working on my products whether I am in the car, on a plane, or just sitting on the couch socializing or watching TV. Crochet has been a major part of my life and now I am ready to start sharing it with the world through Crochet on the Spectrum.
